My illustration work spans a wide range of styles and themes, always guided by a balance between creativity, expression, and visual clarity. From the imaginative worlds of children’s book illustration to the striking visuals of book covers, postcards, and posters, each project is crafted with a strong sense of storytelling and atmosphere.
I also develop scientific and food illustrations, where accuracy and detail meet artistic sensitivity, turning knowledge and everyday moments into compelling visual experiences. Portraits and surface pattern design expand my practice further, blending expressive drawing with decorative and applied arts.
Every illustration—whether for print, editorial, branding, or personal commissions—is created with an individual approach, aiming to connect with audiences and enhance the message behind the image. This diversity reflects my belief that illustration is both a form of art and a tool for communication, adaptable to different contexts yet always rooted in a strong artistic identity.

My Creative Process
When working on illustration projects, I follow a clear yet flexible process that ensures both creativity and collaboration. I begin by studying the client’s briefing carefully and creating initial sketches to explore composition, atmosphere, and character design. These early studies are shared with the client for feedback and approval, so that we move forward with a common vision.
Once the sketches are approved, I develop the final illustration with color, detail, and narrative strength, always paying attention to the expressive qualities that make the story come alive. The client then reviews the finished work and we refine it if necessary, making sure the result resonates with their expectations.
For example, in the case of a children’s book about a horse who travels all the way to the moon—only to realize it was all a dream—this process allowed me to balance imagination with clarity. The early sketches focused on the journey and magical atmosphere, while the final artwork captured both the wonder of the horse’s adventure and the tenderness of the dreamlike ending.
This step-by-step approach ensures that each project is not only visually compelling, but also meaningful, tailored to the story and the audience.
Briefing Phase
I start by researching about the subject and creating a moodboard. I then build upon reference images, creating my own imagery afterwards.
I do several studies till the client agrees with the general idea.
Development Phase
I then start start building the final drawing, always sending pictures of the state of the work to the client, avoiding unnecessary revisions.
Final Phase
The drawing is ready, I can then scan it or tweak it digitally if any change is needed.
About Me
I am a professional fine artist (drawing and painting), illustrator, passionate about transforming drawing into creations that bring beauty and meaning to everyday life.
My work seeks to bring poetry into the present, blending tradition with contemporary expression, exploring nature, and using drawing as a universal language.
When I am not drawing, I am probably experimenting with new techniques or imagining the next project.
Drawing portraits from observation is one of my main skills so you can count on me for that!
I have a degree in fine art – painting and a master in Drawing (Fbaul). Erasmus scholarship in Turin, Italy and an intensive drawing course at the Slade School of art, London. I have work published throughout the world and I’m represented by Trindade Gallery, Porto.
