These images explain the creative process behind this print.
This print was done for the Printmaking Finalists Exhibition. This exhibition was done in a museum with a very important Chinese and Japanese collection of ceramics.
In order to develop this print I drew from observation many of the items of the collection.
Here you can see some of these drawings and how I tested the composition with these drawings before starting the print.
However, the composition was not entirely decided before I started the print. I drew some elements and then I did more tests. It took me a long time to create this print.
Here you can also see how I covered the zinc plate during the aquatint process. I’ve only used non-toxic materials (the blue liquid is an alcohol solution).
